My Baby Riding a Horse

Allie is just growing up so fast I can't even handle it. A couple of weeks ago we went to the Arizona State Fair. First of all, let me just say it's the best fair I've ever been to. Clean, not stinky, and their petting zoo had a baby giraffe and zebra. Enough said. We had a blast, and Allie was all about the rides and animals. Riding the horse was definitly the highlight of the day for her.

Here is Danny feeding a giraffe. It totally licked him.

Danny with perfect form winning Allie a giant stuffed dog.

Congratulations Carrie!!

I wanted to give a quick shout out to my BFF and tell her how proud of her I am. To protect her identity let's call her C. Burt. No no no, Carrie B. Yes, that's it. Carrie is graduating from her Air Force Training school tomorrow. She joined the Air Force a year ago and after boot camp and this year of training she's off to Maryland to be stationed at Andrews (right??) Air force Base. I'm so proud of her. Back in high school she told me she wanted the join the military. We talked about the pros and cons of the Navy, and how her title would be "Seaman". You can see why she opted to join the Air Force instead. So it took a few years, with some interesting careers along the way. Other than her Billy Ray Cyrus impersonations (see picture) Dairy Queen was her first job, where she hooked me up with free ice-cream, even after she mutilated her hand in the Blizzard machine. She continued her career working on behalf of the Honolulu Lions Club in search of donations for The Cavalcade of Stars, which may have lasted two weeks... She worked in the marketing department for Xango (not to be confused with Jamba Juice like my Dad kept thinking). She graduated from Utah College of Massage Therapy (see picture above) and got a job offer to work on a cruise ship in Hawaii, but she turned all this down to join the Air Force, and for that I am so proud of her. She is now a pro at fixing all kinds of electronic medical equipment, and is planning on having the military sponsor her way through medical school.
Carrie has always been there for me. Including during a very precarious situation while I was in labor with Allie, but we don't need to go into the details of that... But she is my best friend and I just wanted to make sure everyone knew what an important time this is for her. Way to go Carrie! Thank you for being brave enough to serve your country during this crazy time.

Papago Park

Now that it's starting to get a little cooler (mid 90's) we're able to go outside during the day a little easier, and have been loving it. A few weeks ago when my dad was here we went and hiked up Papago Park, and then again last weekend Danny and I took the girls and went up even higher. Both trips were way fun, and Allie loves riding in her backpack.

Lily's Big Day

Last weekend while my Mom, Dad, sister, and neice were in town we blessed Lily. She and Danny were both so sick all weekend, in fact Lily still is, but she still was as sweet and smiley (just not in these pictures) as ever. She just had her four month checkup and she's 12 pounds, 24 inches (wow two feet!!!) and although she's only in the 30th percentile for height and weight, she's in the 110% for smiles and personality. We love our Lily Lou so much!!

It is totally impossible to have a family picture where everone is looking at the camera, with their eyes open, smiling, and no boogers on the face. One of these days... one of these days.

Grandma Glo and Lily Lou are good buds. Lily even shared her cold with Grandma who said it was certainly worth all the hugs and kisses they shared.

Halloween Part One

Last weekend we went to some friends' Halloween Party. It was really sweet, with bands, a FREAKY haunted house, and all kinds of activities for kids. Allie had a BLAST to say the least. We got there late and missed out on the professional pictures that were taken, but I did catch a few myself.

Here is Allie and Lily with a few of their friends. Allie is the bee, Lily the pumpkin, and their best friends Abby, Caitlin, and Emma. Allie was kind of having a bad night when it came to pictures. Her timing was a little off so don't mind the crusty looks she's giving. She had a great time. Yay for our family!

Here's Danny and his buddy Nate showing how much they love each other.

My friend Saysha and I, and our two little cuties. You can tell that she and I went all out on our costumes this year. My Frankenstein costume won first prize at the costume contest and her Dracula costume was the talk of the party.

These little sisters love each other so much. Poor Lily was pretty warm in her costume, we had to ditch it the second we got to the car. So much for snowy Halloweens! Have I mentioned that I LOVE Arizona?

Allie with her dog "Honey" that Danny won for her at the fair earlier that day. I'll post pictures from that event shortly, but there is nothing funnier than watching her haul him all over the house with her.

New Kids in Review

I know that most of you have been checking back on my blog hourly just waiting for the update on how the New Kids on the Block concert went. Loyal followers your wait is over. The concert was A W E S O M E. Hilary and I had a fabulous time. We arrived JUST as the fab five were taking the stage, purposely skipping the opening act because I for one can't stand opening acts 9 times out of 10. Except when G-Love and Donavon Frankenreiter opened for Jack Johnson and they ended up being more exciting then Jack himself. Anyway back to the NKOTB. They opened with a song we actually weren't familiar with, probably from their new album "The Block" which, by the way, Donnie Wahlberg said in an interview that he would never refuse to give an autograph to someone who wanted that album signed. Classy Donnie. I imagine if someone wanted their chest signed he probably wouldn't deny them either. OK I keep getting sidetracked... The next song they sang was The Right Stuff, which really got the crowd going, and other than about 20 seconds during a slower song, we stood on our feet the entire 2 1/2 hours along with the rest of the crowd. Honestly they sounded great. Other than Joey McIntyre no longer sounding like a 13 year old girl they sounded about the same, if not better. They put on a great show, with a wardrobe change in between almost every song. Donnie seemed to have an endless supply of Boston hats to cover his balding head, and Joey even sported the smiley face jacket of the old days. There certainly were some seriously corny parts, including some of their dances, which believe it or not were probably cornier than their original dances, and then when Jordan unbuttoned his shirt while fans were blowing air on him during one of his solos. It was especially thrilling when Donnie told the entire audience that we (I know that he meant ME personally) were the 6th member of the band. The crowd was about 99.9% women from the ages of 25-35, with the occasional guy standing there with his hands in his pockets wishing he could die as his excited girlfriend or wife screamed her brains out. One excited fan even threw her bra up on stage. This was probably not an entirely new experience for them, although before they probably only had training bras thrown their way. The highlights were probably when they sang Cover Girl, Tonight, and then ended with Hangin' Tough. Joey on his knees singing Please Don't Go Girl brought quite a bit of excitement from the crowd as well. Hilary and I had a great time, and can't wait to go again in another 15 years. It was just really fun going to see this band that we were utterly infatuated with when we were in Elementary school. Thanks Danny and Nate for letting us girls have a night out. Don't worry, neither of us threw our nursing bras on stage...

Danny's birthday is not until tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure I had sufficient time to brag about what a great guy he is. First of all, Danny is the sweetest boy I've ever known. He is generous, kind, thoughtful and sensitive. He likes to go way out of his way to do something that he knows will make my day. If I've had a rough day for whatever reason he'll come home from work and either offer to take the girls out of the house for a while so I can have some time to myself, or to go shopping, or he'll plan a fun evening or something that makes it all better. He's got a great sense of humor. After knowing him for almost 10 years he still makes me laugh and honestly other than being much more responsible and mature, still acts like the 21 year old that I first met. He doesn't take himself too seriously and just is a fun loving guy. Just when I thought I couldn't love him any more than I already did, he turned out to be an amazing father. This certainly didn't surprise me, although I know it probably surprised his family, who thought he'd never have kids or get married for that matter. (That's what he kept claiming all growing up... until I stepped in. :) He gets up every night with Lily and changes her diaper or whatever it takes to get her to go back to sleep, so I don't have to get up each time. He is Allie's hero, and she loves dancing and singing and playing with him. He is very ambitious, and is doing a fabulous job supporting our family. He is extremely handsome and very athletic. He is very supportive of me and my goals. And he's got mad hops. (see picture).

I love you Danny Gard Stansfield! Happy Birthday!
I'd like to turn the remainder of the program over to you, my readers, to post your thoughts on what a great guy Danny is.

"Just get on the floor and do the New Kids dance!"

So the much anticipated New Kids on the Block concert is coming up, I'm getting so excited. Mostly because my sister will be in town for several days, along with both of my parents. Hilary and were big time NKOTB fans so when we found out they were touring again we knew we had to go. So she's flying out here and my parents are coming out for a couple of days because when multiple grandbabies are gathered they can't stay away. Anyway so the concert is on Monday, so stay tuned for the post concert post. Concert. Hmmm...
