Phoenix or bust!

So you may have been wondering why I've been M.I.A. for the last month, and now I can explain why. We have been pretty busy finalizing our plans to move to Arizona, and since nothing was actually for sure yet I just didn't feel like you would be interested in reading the whole saga that has gone on in the last month. It's been on my mind so much I guess there just wasn't any room for any creativity left to write much in my blog.

As many of you know Danny and I are very partial to warm weather, and this years winter was a doozy here in Utah. We've been here for four years, and I think every single year we've said "We are moving somewhere warmer before next winter." I've always really liked Arizona, I've been there several times, and have always just loved the warmth, scenery, climate, everything. So Danny started looking for jobs in warmer climates, Florida, California, Arizona, Hawaii (of course, but it just isn't practical for us right now) and it just seemed like there were SO many options in Arizona. He sent out a few resumes and before long everyone started calling him back and he's gone down 5 times now in the last month for interviews and stuff before narrowing down his options. He's accepted a great job in advertising, one that he is certain he will really enjoy and can envision himself there long-term, and it will enable me to work a lot less, or not at all I suppose if I chose not to. We started realizing that with a second baby coming, my time is going to be much much more limited, and I don't want to get back into the habit of working nights and weekends again. That just wasn't fun for anybody. I've enjoyed starting and running my own business, and I plan to do it to some extent. I have a lot of pride in it, and I was able to prove to myself that I could actually be a successful entrepreneur, so I don't want to give it up completely, just having the option to work as much or as little as I want will be great to have.

So you're probably wondering if I've forgotten that I'm less than four weeks away from having a baby and how on earth are we planning on managing a move. Well, Danny actually started his new job today, so this is now day 2 of us being "separated." We thought it would be kind of funny to tell people that we are separated, but now that I'm saying it it just makes me sad. He has been my best friend for almost nine years now, and I love him so much having him gone is driving me crazy, but we will make it work. He's planning on coming back each weekend until the baby is born, and then as soon as she's home and we feel it's safe to travel, us three girls will head on down there. This is totally not the ideal situation, but for insurance purposes, doctor purposes, and house selling purposes, it just made sense for me to stay behind for a month while he starts down there. The good news is, if I were to go into labor, he could theoretically be on a plane and home within a couple of hours, since the flight is just over an hour. If she comes on her due date he'll be home for a weekend, and at my doctor's appointment tomorrow I'm going to talk to him about possibly scheduling to be induced (again) that way we can be sure he'll be here. I'm really not too worried that he'll miss it, I know it will work out OK. I'll just be bummed he won't be around very much in the next month, although he probably won't miss giving me constant back rubs and running back and forth bringing me drinks and stuff. Anyway good news is he just found out on his first day that they'll give him a week off when Lily comes, so that will be really great. We weren't sure how flexible they'd be with that since he just started, but I think they just want to make sure he's happy there so they're hooking him up. A week before Lily is due my mom will be coming out and she will be Chief Packer and Cleaner (not sure if she totally knows this yet) and we'll try to just get all ready to go so that way once I head off for the hospital we won't have much moving stress until we actually move, at which point my mom and dad will help us get the moving truck packed and driven down to Phoenix.

So this is all "the plan". Will it actually work out this way? Not sure. You never do. Our first priority is getting this little angel born and hopefully she's healthy and strong (we'll need all the help moving furniture that we can get... j/k). Everything time wise pretty much revolves around her, and so depending on how that all goes will help us figure out everything else. It is really crazy timing for us to be trying to negotiate a move, sell our house, etc all around having a baby, but life just is crazy sometimes. It never slows down. If you wait around for things to settle down you'll never get the things done that you want to do. So we're just going for it.

We will miss our friends and family here in Utah for sure. That has been the only reason why we've stayed here as long as we have. There are a lot of big things going on with everyone right now, and now that we won't be so close we won't be able to be as much of a part of everyone's daily lives. We are sad about that, but this really is the best move for our little family. We are excited for the adventure, and hope it works out as well as we expect it to. If not, I suppose we'll pick up and move again! Let's just not think about that just yet though...

Mayumi Aziza Ayer (My-yumi A-zee-za)

Ok so this is turning out to be a baby filled summer. My sister Hilary and her husband Nate just had their first baby on Saturday, and although I wasn't able to be there, I am just bursting with excitment and pride for my newest little neice. She is just precious beyond belief, and I cannot wait to see her. She'll be coming out to visit her auntie and cousins in a couple of months. I'm so happy for Hil and Nate. They both seem so happy, and I know will be awesome parents. Way to go Hil! I'm proud of you! I know it was a lot of work but so so worth it! So... here she is! :)

Allie won't stop talking about Baby Yumi and Auntie Hil. She is also very excited about it all.

Paisley's Blessing

This weekend was my niece's baby blessing. It was a beautiful day (finally we're getting a few sunny days!) and Paisley was just unbelievably cute and well behaved the entire day. She didn't even pretend like she was about to cry ever. For a month old little girl, she makes an amazing hostess. She was passed around from person to person, in her adorable little dress her mom and grandma made, and was just an angel. A lot of her family was able to be there for the special day. I love you Paisley! Here are some pictures of the event...

No, I'm not dead

So I guess I just think that I have to have some extraordinary news or something exciting to say to post a blog. Like I'll be ostracized in the blogging world if I don't post some pictures or say something interesting, but honestly I just don't really have a whole lot to report. Probably the highlight of the week was LOST last night, man nothing beats Thursday night T.V. these days! I'm working on painting the outside of the back patio door, and getting the yard into summer mode. What this means is picking up mittens and toys and random pieces of Tupperware that found their way onto my lawn and then were snowed upon for 27 months straight before the snow finally melted and all of these treasures were rediscovered. I even found a cutting board out there. What on earth? I've got about 7-8 weeks to go until baby Lily arrives (yes we finally picked out a name I think) and my sister is having her baby girl in about 2 weeks. Lots of excitement there. This is her first. Four other people just on my street are pregnant, all babies coming this summer, so almost everyone I know is pregnant or just had a baby. It's insane. Allie's been swimming several times this week with her cousin Libby, and they are getting quite good going down the water slide. Other than that, I have not a whole lot to report. Haha I just looked over at Allie, to see if she would inspire me to write anything else about her, and I caught her picking a massive wedgie. She tends to get them a lot now, especially when she dresses herself and puts her panties on backwards. Ok, too much info? Sorry... I'm out.
